Unfinished picture of my brother's house in Cardross, Scotland. It's his 30th birthday soon and I wanted to do something special for his big day so will be posting this to him as a surprise. It is drawn from a photograph admittedly but I like to think I've added to the drawing and created more of an atmosphere than the photograph portrays. There is certainly more contrast which I think is characteristic of my drawing style.
Two poses from today's life drawing class in Deal. I had such an amazing day and really enjoyed it. If you are interested in life drawing and live in Kent I recommend visiting Deal Life Drawing Group who have weekly evening and day time life classes, which sadly I cannot go to, and monthly Saturday (all day) classes. I am aiming to go to all of the monthly saturday classes so, if nothing else, I am able to post regular life drawings on this blog.

These are the result of attending my first life drawing class for quite a while at Creek Creative in Faversham. There's nothing quite like the discipline of life drawing to focus on your eye and mind. Both these drawings were 30 minute poses after a warm up of 3 2 minute drawings and 2 5 minute drawings. The top drawing is charcoal on a white background and the bottom is chalk, charcoal and conte crayon on a light brown background. |
